Team Guardian accepts its members based on the dedication shown to the team. Designing UAVs is not an easy feat, but it is the challenge that makes it so engaging. We invite you to participate in our meetings and workshops for the next several weeks. You can help in the development process and tackle some of our projects in preparation for upcoming competitions This will allow us to get to know you better and give you a chance to make sure Team Guardian is a good fit for you. In mid-November, we will select students who have shown interest and consistently attended meetings to become members of the team.
To get started, we are hosting a series of workshops in some of our main areas of development. All workshops will be held at the SFU Surrey campus, starting at 11:00 am. Room numbers will be announced via our mailing list. Please bring your laptops to each workshop. There will also be work meetings in room 3340 each Saturday if you do not want to attend the workshop.
- Linux Workshop – Saturday, September 30, room SUR 4040. All our development is done on a Linux environment. Both the vision system and autopilot teams use Linux. Please download Virtual Box and install Ubuntu before the workshop.
- TAG (Target Analysis and Geolocation) Software – Saturday, October 7. TAG is one of the core pieces of the vision system. It handles manual image processing and is being developed to automate the process.
- Autopilot Workshop – Saturday, October 14. Learn the basics of how we control our aircraft and create our flight plans.
We are excited to have you involved with our team! If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
